Margarita
Matte
Margarita Matte was raised in both Mexico and the United States, giving her the benefit of growing up in a bilingual and bicultural environment. She started her career teaching English at all levels in language institute settings in Guadalajara, Saltillo and New York. Since then, in addition to teaching which she thoroughly enjoys, she has coordinated several ELT programs. She also coordinated a joint research project between the University of Guadalajara and UCLA. Her involvement with teacher training courses ranges from being a tutor for COTE training courses to designing and implementing ELT training courses for various institutes and schools. In addition she has been an active member of MEXTESOL. Her activities there have ranged from conducting workshops to being the Guadalajara chapter president for three years and secretary for the national committee for one year. She graduated from New York University. She has recently completed her M.A. in TEFL from Canterbury Christ Church College where she researched reading problems of second language learners. Her current interest within ELT is in bilingual education. Outside of the ELT world, she is an avid reader, loves her daughter, cooking, and nature. |
